When we celebrate Independence Day each year, there is one man who should also be remembered. For most of his life he was known simply as James. Enslaved for many years, James served as a spy and a double agent during the American Revolutionary War. At great risk to himself, he brought vital information to the American military leaders—just when they needed it.
