Kentucky has partnered with the Core Knowledge Foundation to build a K-8 social studies curriculum built around state academic standards.
The brand new curriculum, “Our Commonwealth, Our Nation, Our World,” integrates Core Knowledge’s coherent, cumulative approach to knowledge-building together with inquiry, all grounded in Kentucky’s own standards and content.

Kentucky’s new social studies curriculum will be entirely free to download, with low-cost print student readers, teacher guides, and student notebooks also available, along with comprehensive professional learning to support teachers as it rolls out beginning with kindergarten and grades 3, 5, and 8 in the 2027-28 school year.
