Louisiana Bayou Bridges Grade 1

Focus:
Grade 1 of the Louisiana Bayou Bridges Curriculum Series takes students through the four major subject areas of social studies–geography, history, economics, and civics—as they apply to the state of Louisiana. Students will use maps to explore the state and its regions. They will follow the state’s history from its first Indigenous inhabitants to its admission to the United States, and they will discover how the state’s past has helped create its present-day rich, diverse culture. Students will learn about the state’s economy, from its resources and industries to the choices that people make every day. Then they will explore what it means to be a citizen and how their state government works.
