Focus:
Grade 6 CKMusic consists of five units. In Elements of Music, students continue to study the individual elements of music such as melody, harmony, rhythm, dynamics and tempo and how they interact with each other to create a composition. In Expression Through Song, students will explore how music can turn poetry into song, providing hope and a sense of identity. The unit Baroque Music turns to the ornamentation and complexity of Baroque music. The Classical Music unit explores how the Classical period was a reaction to the ornate and complex music of the Baroque period. The unit then looks at sonata form, a common structure for classical compositions well into the Romantic period which leads to the unit, Romantic Composers.
