CKMusic: Grade K

Focus:
Kindergarten CKMusic consists of two units. In Elements of Music students learn that rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and dynamics are fundamental elements of music, and that understanding these elements helps them appreciate how music works and deepen their enjoyment of music. Students explore these elements through familiar songs and rhymes as well as instrumental pieces. They will also put the elements into practice through hands-on activities.

In Instruments and Music students learn about several instruments, including the guitar, piano, trumpet, flute, violin, and drum; and that each instrument has its own timbre and way of producing sound. They will identify the instruments by sight and sound as they listen to music.

Number of Lessons: 24

Instruction Time: 45 minutes each. Each lesson may be divided into smaller segments.
