CKMusic: Grade 5
Focus:
Grade 5 CKMusic consists of four units. In Elements of Music, students discuss the individual elements of music, such as melody, harmony, rhythm, dynamics, form, and tempo, and how they interact with each other to contribute to the creation of a work of music. In Composers, students focus on specific composers and their music, making historical and literary connections to the period in which the artist lived. In the Renaissance Music unit, students learn about the music of the Renaissance. In the American Spirituals unit, students learn the origins of spirituals, how they were passed down to musicians such as Mahalia Jackson and Bob Dylan, and their impact on uniting people around a common cause.
