They will also learn about the difference between the religious, mythological, and historical themes in the Italian Renaissance, and the everyday themes in the Northern Renaissance.
The second unit, Art and Architecture: The Baroque Period, explores bold contrasts of light and dark, energetic movement, and intense emotions, and the lavish, ornate designs and theatrical spaces in baroque church architecture.
The Nineteenth-Century American Art unit looks at the idealized and expressive nature of nineteenth-century American paintings, and the printmaking of the period, which made art affordable for everyday Americans.
