Our online courses offer flexible, self-paced learning designed for teachers, coaches, and leaders who want to strengthen their understanding of Core Knowledge programs and the Core Knowledge Approach. Each course takes approximately 2–3 hours to complete.

Audience: School Leaders, Coaches, Grades K–8 Teachers
Format: Self-paced, asynchronous (2–3 hours)

This short course introduces the foundational principles of the Core Knowledge Approach. Educators explore how a coherent and cumulative curriculum supports equity, cross-curricular learning, and instructional alignment across grade levels.

Participants will:

  • Understand how the cumulative nature of the Core Knowledge Sequence supports instruction.
  • Explore how cross-curricular teaching deepens learning and comprehension.
  • Learn why providing all students with a broad base of knowledge promotes equity.

This course provides an overview of the CKHG program and how it supports the Core Knowledge Approach. Participants explore program components, teacher and student resources, and strategies for lesson planning and pacing.

Participants will:

  • Explain how CKHG aligns with the Core Knowledge philosophy.
  • Identify the full range of CKHG materials.
  • Describe key features of the Teacher Guide.
  • Recognize effective planning strategies for high-quality implementation.

  • Overview of CKHG structure and purpose

This course introduces the CKSci program and shows how it integrates the Core Knowledge Approach with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and effective science pedagogy.

Participants will:

  • Explain how Core Knowledge, NGSS, and evidence-based practices shape CKSci.
  • Identify the instructional design and resources that make up the program.
  • Recognize examples of three-dimensional learning in lessons and projects.

  • Overview of CKSci design and Teacher Guide structure

  • Planning strategies for effective implementation

Audience: School Leaders, Coaches, Middle School Teachers
Format: Self-paced, asynchronous (2–3 hours)

This course provides an overview of CKLA for Grades 6–8. Educators learn about the program’s materials, lesson structure, and design principles, and how these elements work together to build literacy, knowledge, and academic vocabulary.

Participants will:

  • Identify CKLA’s core and ancillary materials.
  • Understand lesson types, pacing, and instructional flow.
  • Explore how CKLA supports literacy development and content learning.

Includes:
