The Core Knowledge Foundation is pleased to announce our Train-the-Trainer series. This offering prepares district/school personnel to effectively deliver Core Knowledge workshop materials at their sites. Workshops include:

  • “What is the Core Knowledge Approach” [grades K–8]
  • “Getting Started with Core Knowledge History and Geography (CKHG)” [grades K–6]
  • “Getting Started with Core Knowledge Science (CKSci)” [grades K–5]

Training Information

The Train-the-Trainer series follows a 2-part hybrid model that requires participation in online modules and a 3-day face-to-face institute. Throughout this offering, participants will engage in deep learning around the key tenets of each workshop, have an opportunity to practice teaching specific sections, and walk away with a set of training materials (e.g., Instructor Guides and PowerPoints) that they can use/adapt at their site.

Part 1: ONLINE

January – February 2024

The online modules will be released starting in mid-January and run through late-February. While it is highly recommended that participants start the asynchronous work in January, the online portion of the training is flexible. That is, if needed, participants can start the asynchronous modules at a later point as long as the work is completed by late February.

Part 2: FACE-TO-FACE

March 6–8, 2024 (Charlottesville, VA)

Hyatt Place
2100 Bond Street
Charlottesville VA, 22901

The hotel is within walking distance of the Shops at Stonefield, with many shopping, entertainment, and restaurant options.

Will the training focus on Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) K–5?

No. The provided workshop content only focuses on the Core Knowledge approach, Core Knowledge History and Geography (CKHG), and Core Knowledge Science (CKSci). While the Core Knowledge approach informed much of the design of CKLA, neither the workshops nor this training will focus on supporting CKLA implementation.

If you are looking for training specifically focused on CKLA, please contact our publishing partner, Amplify.
