Duties

The West London Free School is the flagship of the British government's free schools programme (free schools = charter schools) and we're looking for a Core Knowledge specialist to oversee the introduction of a knowledge-based curriculum in our secondary school (11-18) and primary school (4-11). (The secondary school opened in 2011 and the primary is due to open in 2013.) The Core Knowledge syllabus has already been adapted for English schools and we're looking for someone who's worked in a leadership position at an American Core Knowledge school to oversee and manage its introduction at our two schools in West London. This will involve producing lesson plans, comprehensions, schemes of assessment, etc, to enable our subject specialists to teach a knowledge-based syllabus. The ideal candidate will be a subject specialist and be able to model good practice by doing some teaching of his or her own subject.

Qualities Sought in Applicant

A drunk-the-Kool-Aid level of commitment to the Core Knowledge Programme; a limitless capacity for hard work; leadership skills; integrity; the ability to get along with British people; a willingness to relocate to London for at least three years. (We'll take care of the visa.) We'd like the successful candidate to start on 1st January, 2013, but have some flexibility regarding start date.
