Prerequisites

To qualify for an ACAP consultation, you must first:

  • receive the recommendation of the Core Knowledge Foundation;
  • complete your curriculum plan and domain maps;
  • complete one domain-based unit at each grade level; and
  • show student test scores demonstrating proficiency or growth.

Objectives

During the visit, the Core Knowledge team will conduct staff interviews, parent and student focus group meetings, grade level meetings, and classroom observations to:

  • assess the level of commitment to the Core Knowledge curriculum and philosophy;
  • evaluate the extent to which the implementation practices have been met; and
  • provide a detailed report documenting evidence of good practice, recommendations for continuous improvement, and deficiencies that warrant attention prior to awarding an official school designation.

Summary

The Analysis of Curriculum and Practices consult is an in-depth visit conducted by a team of Core Knowledge consultants and staff members. It is designed to provide an in-depth evaluation as one of the final steps in the Core Knowledge Official School designation process.

Written or oral statements made by Core Knowledge representatives prior to the awarding of the Core Knowledge Official School designation shall not be interpreted as implicit or explicit guarantee that the designation will be awarded.
