Download Core Knowledge Language Arts

Thank you for your interest in Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA), the only Common Core-aligned, pilot-tested English language arts program that builds skills, knowledge, and vocabulary in literature, history, and science.

We plan to launch our CKLA Free File Download Manager in early August 2013. We anticipate the first several units for kindergarten through grade 2, and all of grade 3 to be available at that time. Subsequent units will be posted as they become available, and in time for a standard school teaching schedule. Preschool files will not be available until September/October 2013.

For now, you can view samples of our Skills and Listening and Learning materials, download many preschool through grade 2 files from the EngageNY website, or purchase CKLA in printed format from Amplify, our partner publisher.

Please note that for any given unit that is posted, there will be multiple files for the different teacher and student components of the program.  View our preschool and K–8 visual component guides for details.

Please also be aware that while CKLA is available for download, it has not been designed as an online program. A teacher with a tablet and a Smart Board may choose to use some of the Listening and Learning materials without printing them, but the majority of the files will need to be printed.

Assessment and Remediation (A&R) Guides are in their final editing stages and will be posted online over the summer months and available via the published web addresses. We anticipate teachers will use these guides as an online, as needed resource. Please be aware the A&R Guides are quite voluminous – well over 1,000 pages – at each grade level. The regular Skills Teacher Guides for each unit include quite a bit of additional practice material at the end of each guide called Pausing Points. We suggest that when teachers need extra material for practice and/or reteaching, they first use the Pausing Point materials and then go to the A&R Guide, if needed.

Visit us later this summer for additional announcements.
