Developing a Curriculum Plan for Implementation
Your goal is to develop a curriculum plan for implementing all of the Core Knowledge Sequence. Although you may choose to take up to three years to fully implement all of the Sequence, developing a long-range plan is important, because it will:
- Ensure that all of the Core Knowledge topics are taught
- Encourage consistency and communication
- Give you a sense of pacing
- Enable you to make decisions about how in-depth you can go into topics
Your curriculum plan should include:
- Content from Core Knowledge at the appropriate level
- Manageable time allocated for each topic
- An evident pattern (topics are logically connected throughout the year)
- Required standards
- Skill objectives
- All other school requirements
