Head Start

The Core Knowledge Preschool Program provides the tools that Head Start agencies and teachers need to create a successful experience for children and to satisfy all federally mandated requirements related to the educational component of their program.

The Core Knowledge Preschool program can provide your Head Start with

• a structured, sequenced curriculum that addresses the needs of at-risk preschoolers in all areas of development: social and emotional skills, work habits, oral language and early literacy skills, motor coordination skills, and general knowledge (math, science, art, and music)
• The goals and objectives of the Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence are very closely aligned to the Head Start Performance Outcomes. The Core Knowledge Foundation will be happy to provide a single copy of this correlation to any Head Start agency that purchases a copy of the Preschool Sequence. Please direct your request to the Preschool Department.
• an assessment and reporting system, the Core Knowledge Preschool Assessment Tool (CK-PAT), that is fully integrated with the curriculum. This tool enables teachers to individualize and optimize instruction for all children. The software management program generates progress reports for individual students, classrooms, and the agency as a whole, satisfying all Head Start assessment and reporting requirements.
• comprehensive professional development and support services for staff to ensure effective use of the program. We are also able to offer Core Knowledge preschool professional development for college credit so that teachers may apply the hours spent in this training towards the pursuit of AA and BA degrees.
• ideas for encouraging parent involvement including guidelines for monthly parent meetings, home lending libraries, and home literacy programs during the summer. Contact for more information.
