Colorado Conference

Core Knowledge Preschool will be in the Rockies! We will offer our Getting Started and Assessment and Planning trainings at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Colorado Springs on November 8–9, 2007. Deadline to register for Preschool Trainings in Colorado is November 2. Contact for information.

Getting Started is perfect for teachers looking to implement our sequenced, solid, content-rich curriculum. It is also essential for Core Knowledge Preschool teachers who want to optimize their curriculum implementation. Katie Huey, Core Knowledge Coordinator from Christ the King Cathedral School in Lubbock, Texas, will lead this session.

Assessment and Planning is for any teacher wanting to learn student assessment in the context of the Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence. Use of the Core Knowledge Preschool Assessment Tool (CK-PAT) software will be addressed. Alice Wiggins, Director of the CK Early Childhood Department, will lead this session.

Year-round Trainings in Arkansas

Can’t make it to the conference?  Then join us for our Preschool Institute trainings at the Holiday Inn North Little Rock throughout the school year. At $245 per participant, this is a great way for teachers from all over to take advantage of our professional development opportunities in an affordable, convenient setting. We are pleased to have Susan Smith, CK Preschool’s Arkansas grant coordinator, lead these sessions.

Scholastic-Core Knowledge Preschool Library

Core Knowledge has partnered with Scholastic to create another valuable resource for preschool teachers. The Core Knowledge Preschool Library will be released in December. It includes two copies each of forty terrific, essential titles. For each of the forty books, the accompanying Teacher Guide includes a synopsis of the story and an extension activity designed to develop vocabulary, phonological awareness, or print-related concepts. A copy of the new Scholastic Library will be available for preview at the November Preschool Institutes at the Colorado Regional Conference.
