Rocklin Academy, a Public Charter School based on the Core Knowledge curriculum, has scored 916 in the academic performance tests, called the STAR tests, conducted by the California Department of Education. Its scores were among the highest in the state, which uses 800 as the target goal for every school. Rocklin Academy, which enrolls 190 students Kindergarten through Grade Six, has attained the highest scores in the city since 2002, one year after its founding.
Academy Founder and Executive, Director Dr. David Patterson, asserts that “The Academy’s API score is further validation that our nationally recognized Core Knowledge curriculum is motivating, comprehensive and challenging. … Academy families work as full partners with our outstanding faculty, allowing each child to reach his or her full potential.”
Next year the Academy plans to expand through the 8th grade and recently added a second Kindergarten. In addition to the Core Knowledge curriculum, it offers Saxon Math, Junior Great Books, and Spanish language instruction beginning in Kindergarten.
